So, I want to start with a quick general list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3Gxtb7N\">Robert Nozick <em>The Examined Life<\/em><\/a> &#8211; I have purchased this book several times, lent it, and never received it back.  It is about the meaning of life. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3W8uq38\">Plato <em>The Republic <\/em><\/a>&#8211; The first book of philosophy I ever read cover to cover.  I have multiple translations.  This is the most accessible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3ZlwXtA\">John Rawls <em>Justice as Fairness: A Restatement<\/em><\/a> &#8211; A summary of the greatest work of political philosophy of the 20th Century by the author.  The original is worth reading too (A Theory of Justice).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3VZWx4t\">Heraclitus <em>Fragments<\/em><\/a> &#8211; Deep thoughts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3XlQmIZ\">John Stuart Mill <em>On Liberty and Utilitarianism<\/em><\/a><em> &#8211; <\/em> Freedom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3VZY9v3\">Hannah Arendt <em>Eichmann in Jurusalem<\/em><\/a><em> <\/em>&#8211; Some thoughts on Evil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3k2q2Fr\">Charles Taylor <em>The Malaise of Modernity<\/em><\/a>&#8211; A Canadian!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3CCPwQs\">William Blake <em>Selected Poems<\/em> <\/a>&#8211; We all need some poetry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3X1XjiF\">The Penguin Book of First World War Poetry<\/a> &#8211; The best way to understand war.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3ZrRUTN\">George Orwell <em>Animal Farm <\/em><\/a>&#8211; Some pigs are more equal than others, and we need some fiction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been doing a lot of thinking about what I should recommend for reading.
